Team Keith

Organized by Big Design & DFW-UPA

Day 27: Wednesday (Not Doing Better, Or Worse)
Keith was sleeping today at the hospital. He has some color back in his face. White blood cell count and temperature is elated.

Still on dialysis. They pulled 10 pounds of water weight off him. They need another 20-25 pounds. He is strating to look like Keith Anderson, again. Albiet, a sleeping Keith Anderson.

Many visitors at lunch. Keith would not wake up for anyone, including a cousin who was in town from Chicago for a business trip.
Day 26: Tuesday (Groggy Day)
According to Julie, Keith is groggy, but still recovering. We had a request for sending flowers.

NOTE: The ICU does not take flowers. People might be allergic.

Keith's voice does not sound as bad. He is still incredibly weak. White blood cells are slightly elevated still.

Go Keith go!
Day 25: Cyber Monday
Keith's tubes for the ventilator were removed ate last night. His lips are cracked like he has just walked through the desert. Keith still needs dialysis.

The doctors have backed off the medication, but he still has loads of it going through his system. Keith is very weak. He will need physical therapy.

Keith is awake, but not thinking lucid (yet). He has too many residual drugs in his system. The doctors have backed off the pain medication.

Keith is weak, but he is going in the right direction. White blood cell count is a little high. He is still receiving daily treatments of dialysis.

I upped the donation limit to $7,500 today.
Day 24: First Day of Advent
Keith's fever is lower. Surgeon is worried about the fever spikes and does not want to operate. Nurses seem to be okay with the temperature swings.

NOTE: Received a request to move the number up to $10,000. I plan to update the goal after we hit $5,000.

Our original goal of $2,000 was reached in 16 hours. We raised it to $3,000 and reached in on Thanksgiving Day. We raised to $4,000 and reached this goal on Black Friday. We raised to $5,000 on Saturday (almost at goal now).
Day 23: Small Business Saturday
I visited Keith today. He has one less machine in his ICU room. He is still sedated. Julie is in the room with him. He is no on dialysis because Keith accidentally unhooked the machine. Nurse tells us that Keith will get another treatment soon.

Julie is worried about a low grade fever the Keith has been running for a few hours. The fever is in the 99-100 degree range, but it had not spiked over 100.

Keith receives dialysis treatment and the fever goes to 101 degrees. Nurse gives tylenol.

Fever is indicative of an infection. If the fever persists, a second operation may occur. Julie is worried.
Day 22: Black Friday
Night nurse tells us that Keith has a good night. His temperature is holding steady at 98.8 degrees. Julie is going to sign dialysis consent form to restart dialysis.

In some ways, it is the best news that we have heard for a few days.

Day 21: Thanksgiving Day
Keith;s surgeon and GI doctor are saying the same thing--a second surgery might be needed, if he keeps running a fever. They want to monitor for several days. Keith's temperature drops later in the day. It is holding steady at 98.8 degrees.
Day 20: Team Keith Update
Keith is stiln on a ventilator and dialysis. I visited with Julie at lunch. Keith was running a fever. GI doctor is concerned. Nurse came to give him some medication.

There is talk of a second surgery, if the fever persists. The fever is a sign of an infection.

Day 19: Team Keith Update
We have decided to create this site to help offset the costs of Keith Anderson's dialysis, ventilator, and surgery costs for November.

Latest update from Keith's wife is:

Gastro-intestinal doctor just visited. White blood pressure is up to 28. They are going to do another cat scan to see what is going on. Not sure when it will be.
